Other reports say the Bank of Thailand will impose harsh regulations by doubling the minimum salary of credit cardholders to 30,000 baht a month and cutting the credit line to 1.5 times. Mr Tanawat said the cut in the credit line, if put into effect, might not have strong impact on operators as new jobbers applying for new credit card usually get a credit line of 1.5-2 times their income. He said the decrease in the interest rate is expected to hit the revenue of credit cards operators, especially KTC, which depends mainly on interest rates from credit card loans. "The cut in interest rate might help ease the burden of customers, but it will also pressure the credit card operators," said Mr Tanawat. The implementation date has changed from the middle of this month to early August, which suggests the central bank still hasn't settled the details, he said.
